How We Are Funded

We are able to keep the funding dollars needed to a minimum because of the on-going efforts of our staff in establishing a network of volunteers, health care providers, community agencies, and other organizations who greatly discount or donate time, health care services, operational space, supplies, equipment, and other in-kind donations.

St. Mary's Health Clinics annual budget is approximately $4.8 million.  Just over 73% of this is the dollar value of the services contributed by our volunteer physicians, nurses, interpreters, receptionists, drivers, Sisters of St. Joseph staff, and Health System Partners (Park Nicollet, Pharmacies, and other Health Systems).  The remaining nearly $1.3 million of operating expenses is received in a number of ways.

A large portion of the funds needed to successfully operate the St. Mary's Health Clinics are raised by the Ministries Foundation of the Sisters of St. Joseph, which is the funding arm for our ministry.  Funds raised by the Ministries Foundation for the Clinics come from the annual Carondelet Gala, grants written on the behalf of the Clinics, and other funds received by the Ministries Foundation on behalf of the Clinics.

The remaining is made up of contributions made directly to the St. Mary's Health Clinics by churches, social and business groups, and individuals.

The financial support of individuals and community-based organizations is essential for our operations. We are proud to declare that for a contribution of $250 the Clinics can provide heatlh care for one individual for an entire year. This includes primary care, specialty care, medications, and most hospital services.
